Foundations

From a year behind to fully reconciled.

Falling behind is common and fixable. We scope the backlog, quote a fixed fee, and work through it in weekly batches — so you know exactly what it costs and when it will be done.

The problem

The backlog gets heavier the longer it waits.

A backlog rarely starts with neglect. Usually a bookkeeper left, a system migration stalled, or the business grew faster than its admin. By the time it becomes urgent, there is a deadline attached: a filing, a loan application, a due-diligence request.

Working through it without a plan is slow and expensive. Working through it with a defined scope, a fixed fee and a weekly checkpoint is neither.

The outcome

What you get at the end of the project

01

A clean, defensible set of books

Every account reconciled to statements, with a note on anything we could not resolve and why.

02

Filing-ready figures

Your preparer or lender receives a complete package rather than a work in progress.

03

A starting point that stays clean

Most clients move straight onto our monthly bookkeeping so the backlog never returns.

What is included

Everything in the engagement.

Scope is agreed in writing before work starts. Add or remove items as your business changes.

A scoping review of your accounts, systems and the size of the backlog before we quote

A fixed project fee with weekly progress notes

Reconciliation of bank, credit card, loan and payment-processor accounts

Correction of duplicate transactions, miscategorised spend and balance-sheet errors

Restated opening balances agreed with your prior accountant where needed

A written list of open questions and the decisions taken to resolve them

Ideal client

Who this is for — and who it is not.

A good fit

Books between 3 months and 3 years behind

Businesses switching bookkeepers or platforms

Anyone facing a lender, investor or filing deadline

Probably not yet

Companies that are current and simply need ongoing bookkeeping

How it works

From first call to a working rhythm.

01

Scoping review

We look at the backlog with you — accounts, months, transaction volume — and quote a fixed fee.

02

Weekly batches

We work month by month, sending a short progress note and any questions each Friday.

03

Reconciliation and review

Every account is tied to statements; a senior reviewer signs off the balance sheet.

04

Handover

You receive the reconciled books, notes on judgement calls, and a proposal for keeping them current.

Client story

“They caught a duplicated supplier payment in the first month that our old bookkeeper had missed for a year. That alone covered the fee.”
